My husband had a small accident on Sunday night. He was at a roundabout turning right and a woman pulled out in front of him and he hit her causing some damage to her car. It was his right of way and clearly her fault. They swapped details but within seconds car loads of her male friends started arriving from nowhere.
Up until this point they were talking rationally and as soon as the mates arrived she switched and started lying saying he wasn't indicating etc.
My husband felt scared so he got in the car and left, having got her details. When he got home he realises in his haste to get away he dropped the paper and can only remember her name and the make of the car, no registration.
We reported it to our insurance company who said we need to report it to the police for them to trace her as they have no way of finding her without the registration.
However....our car isn't taxed and the MOT has expired. I'm worried the police will want our car's details, realise it's not taxed and come and impound it. I know he shouldn't have been driving it, please don't judge. What's done is done and I just need some information on how next to proceed.
Thanks in advance
