My daughter is learning to drive - but it isn't really a learning to drive question.
She is also on the small side. OK, she is tiny, about 5ft1. Her driving instructor is using a cushion behind her to push her forward to reach the pedals.
In my car I can adjust the seats so this is not needed... a bit of a pain, as her brother is 6ft 3, but possible - and mine is a large Volvo. She isn't ready for practise in mine though, as I lack the dual controls and she is dead nervous.
Is it legal to use a normal cushion behind a driver? What is the implication in a crash, as I assume the seat back will be the wrong shape to cradle her back properly?
She really likes her instructor, but I am wondering whether I should insist on finding another instructor whose car will "fit" her better?
