Driving home on roundabout this evening - i was on inside lane going round to right and car on my inside was going straight over and we nearly collided as he didn't indicate (and neither was i)
we pulled apart and stopped momentarily on the roundabout whereby his other 2 young male passengers wound down windows to shout obscenities and he got out quickly and said we should drive off the roundabout to stop somewhere - which we did - i didn't want to get out of the car as felt intimidated plus very busy A road so he told me to call the police which i did - they didn't want to come out - no need to as no injury or debris so i just took his name/ number and number plate - he took no details except my number plate!
on getting home there is no damage or mark whatsoever on my car so i dont think we could've even touched
he was shouting about making a big claim and having 'friends who can get all the footage from the cameras on the roundabout'
Question:- do i need to report the 'incident' to my insurers - will this count as an accident if theres no damage to my car and therefore obviously couldn't have damaged his car (feel suspicious that he might try to pull a fast one - but not sure what that would be - just felt uneasy about it all) I am still shaking from it all
My camera wasnt working on my phone so I have no images of his car although he supposedly took some but it was so dark, i cant imagine it showed much!
Obviously I don't want to put things through the insurance if I have no damage but I also don't want to get caught out if not calling them will disadvantage me somehow - just not sure what is for the best and no one else to ask:(
