My VW caddy recently had both clutch hydraulic cylinders replaced by VW.
Whilst at the garage, they also investigated the lamp failure warning lamp that was illuminated on the dash (all lamps appeared to be working OK, but can't be sure as the clutch failure and subsequent breakdown may have distracted me)
On return, the front turn indicator no longer worked and the garage told me that the entire front headlamp as it is faulty and needs to be replaced. Its just a basic lamp - I don't think its LED, Xeon or anything fancy.
This seems a bit strange to me - they aren't suggesting a wiring fault, but rather a lamp unit (undamaged) is faulty.
Of course fitted this is £350.00 and 2 days in the workshop as there is much dismantling needed to extract the headlamp. Why on earth would the dealer need to replace the lamp? Surely at worst its a wiring fault?
Does anybody have experience of this on a Caddy or Touran?
Thanks. Phil
