Intermittent brake lights Chevrolet Cruze

Hello,

I have a 2010 1.8 LT Chevrolet Cruze which has 50k miles on the clock which I bought from a dealer in Lympsham, I travelled about 190 miles to buy this car.

In the first few days in owning the car I noticed that when I set off at the traffic lights and depress the brake pedal my brake lights remain on even after the brake pedal has been fully depressed, I've noticed that this only happens after long journeys (motorway driving). On short journeys (local driving) I can press/depress the brake pedal all I want and the brake lights would turn on/off just fine. When this happens I have to give the brake pedal a little pull from underneath for the brake lights to turn off.

Sometimes releasing the clutch pedal makes the brake lights turn off too when the brake pedal doesn't come back up fully, I'm assuming that the clutch and brake pedals are connected and this nudges it .

If you're wondering how I can tell if my brake lights are on, I can notice my middle brake light in the rear screen.

I have contacted the dealer and they told me to take it to a local garage and have them call the dealer. The car had some other faults too which were, boot release button not working and noisy heater actuator.

The garage told me that the pedal has been lubed up and that the noisy actuator doesn't need to be replaced as it's not broken. They fixed the boot button and the dealer paid them directly which was nice of them.

I bought the car about 3 weeks ago, so I think I can still reject it (I don't really want to unless I have to). I'm wondering what's the best way to go? I only have a week left to decide as it can only be done within 30 days of purchasing.

Any idea on what could be causing this intermittent brake light issue and what I can do about this?

Thanks for reading. Any help is greatly appreciated
