Hello everyone - new user here, with scant knowledge of cars.
The Fabia conked out out on the M27 last week, and was towed back to my house. A mobile mechanic came out to day to see what's what, but couldn't get it started. He reckons something electrical has gone, but the car will need to be towed to his garage for repairs (tow plus repairs will come to something like £250-£300). The car is a 2007, only 33k miles, but has a history of costing us money ever since it was in an accident last June. The damage was quite bad (no chassis damage), and was a Category D write-off - but I wanted the car repaired; probably a bad decsion in hindsight.
I could have the repair done, but the car is also due an MOT in April - and I'm sure that will cost even more money. So, I'm looking for advice really, as to my next step. I could ask the garage to give the car a quick general look to see if the car in its present state would get through an MOT, after the electrical repair. I also need an idea as to how much it might be worth, as I want rid completely.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Len
