Nelson's Column Phase 2:- Do garages treat their employees well?

It is quite a normal experience for customers to enter a main dealer and be greeted with smiles and excellent customer services. In my local VW dealer, you can see your car being serviced in an open plan immaculate garage by studious looking technicians.

Alternatively, you may go down to your friendly local independent and partake in the relax musical atmosphere whilst having your Grade 2 car serviced.

However, my man in the trade said it wasn't always like that.

In the good old days, new apprentices used to have initiation ceremonies which comprised of being locked in a cage and hosed down with cold water. Or having rust oxide paint being applied to parts of the body which should only be accustomed to soap and water. And if you made a mistake, you were assaulted until you got the job right. No dead pigs heads though!

This weeks Phase 2 Nelson's Column asks are garage employees treated well, and to relay your tales of the trade from yourself or your associates.
