Hello all, a friends daughter lent my car as hers had to be repaired. She insured it and taxed it as it was SORN, the next morning a famous Stoke City player on his way to the training ground, came around the corner too fast and slid into the car at speed totalling the back end completely. He was very apologetic and didn't want to go through insurance or have the police involved. The car had cost me £1200 some six weeks earlier. He agreed verbally to pay out cash for the car and also for the car in front which was also damaged as the impact pushed the car into the one in front.
He arranged to bring the cash for both cars the following week when it was his day off. On the day of due payment, a broker rang to say the footballer wanted to go down the insurance route. I personally have no problem with this; however, will the insurance pay out to the insured driver who must in turn reimburse me or will the insurance pay me ( the owner of the car) direct?
The friends daughter does not want to involve her insurance as she is relatively young and her premiums as such are high. The car that mine was pushed into due to the impact was her boyfriend car, he has sold this car now for peanuts as he took the word of the Premier footballer that he would pay out cash for both damaged cars
Thank you for you time and any comments
