Okay i am a new driver(20 years old) which had passed in may and has been driving for a few months.(august-today) and i had an accident a month ago.it was collision on a round about as i moved on to the round and a car came from a blind spot from my right.the damage was minimal as i only had a tiny scratch on my car which was hardly noticable.the damage to his car was not much as the headlamp had a slight crack and his bumper came slightly off his hinges which was easy to push back into place.
As this was the first accident that i had been in i was not sure wat i was meant to do as i was in shock.the man that had hit me was alone whilst i was with two of my friends.we both pulled over to the side and he took my details down.at this point my friends had asked if he was willing to solve the issue privatly and he agreed so i had only took his name and number down.
I went to get quotes with him and fixed his car within the next 2-3 days.he tried blame me for damages that were already on the bumper but i agreed to fix it so we didnt have to go though insurance.i had paid for his damages which was £300 for paint work mostly.and he picked up his car from the garage and didnt contact me again.a month later,today i recieve an email saying the someone has put a claim on me(obviously him).i want to know what i should do as i am scared that my insurance will go skyhigh and i am unsure on what my next move should be.thank you for taking your time in reading this.
