2005 1.6 hdi exclusive diesel 120000 miles.....If you have this problem, with esp warning bulb lit up but not abs light.....here is what I found. Went and had fault codes read. Fault was brake pedal switch and brake hydraulic pressure switch. On live reading both were working fine. Decided to replace brake light switch as oem part £10 if it's pressure switch then whole abs pump needs changing. V. Expensive. All fixed no warnings and surprisingly car seems to have more power than its had for years. It greases up hills in high gears, turbo whistling away. Brake light switch has 4 contacts. 2 for brake lights and importantly 2 seperate contacts for abs/esp. Seems when you touch brake pedal, fuel is cut to save fuel. So, even though brake lights work, other set of contacts in brake switch can cause all sorts of problems if they have an intermittent fault or short circuit. For price. Just try new brake light switch! Hope this helps someone.
