battery drain problem, help needed

i have recently started getting a battery drain on my Audi A6,i have put a multi-meter in series to see what power is being drawn and as normal there is about 300 milliamps then around every 20 seconds it jumps to 10 amps for about 2 seconds, i have dealt with a drain before but not when it is intermittent like this, i thought that this time it would be as simple as pulling fuses to locate the drain, i did this and the drain still appears at 10 amps for around 2 seconds every 20 seconds or so,
has anyone every witnessed anything like this?
if anyone has any ideas to throw my way that would be much appreciated
