I bought my car from new in 2010, and have done 90k miles. It is a 1.4 petrol engine. I had no problems with it for the first 4 years apart from the fuel pump (my own fault). Past year or so I have had trouble with the car overheating. I've had the head gasket replaced by a friend mechanic who recommended it. I have also had a new fan and other little bits done but the car is still doing it. The temp stays on 0 for a long time, but if it is still for too long it rises very quickly. The fan kicks in just as it is going into the red. When driving on the motorway the temperature cools very quickly. There isn't an air lock as this has been checked and it is not loosing water. Oil appears to be ok. As well as this the back left foot well is soaked and there are no obvious tears on the seal. The door panels (it's a 3door) don't appear to let any water in as they are always dry and I have looked during the bad weather many times. Are there any connections between the two? any recommendations?
