Hi. I've got a Peugeot Partner van, 2009. I bought it secondhand in the summer and started noticing a curry smell from the air vents in the cab when using the air con. I had previously naively thought the slightly lingering smell of curry was because someone had had one in there before I bought it!
My mechanic diagnosed antifreeze leaking from the heater matrix and he took out it and replaced it with a new Peugeot heater matrix.
However the smell is still pungently spewing out of the vents, especially when the heating is on. I have taken it back to mechanic who attempted to clean the vents and put an air purifying bomb through the van but the smell is still there and seemingly getting worse.
The fumes make me feel sick.
Does anybody know how to get rid of the smell? Mechanic says they'll go eventually through using the heater but it's still so strong I'm disinclined to believe. I'm not mega clued up on cars so any explanations/ideas anyone is kind enough to put forward should be idiot proof!
Thanks - on behalf of me and my lungs.
