Hi All
I am new poster and a very worried used car buyer. Any help with my situation much appreciated.
I have been looking to purchase a VW CC for some time now and have done plenty of research (I am aware of the current emissions scandal but still love the cars). I went to see an 11 plate today at an independent dealer but it had apparently just sold (this does seem accurate as I have been keeping a watch of his stock on their website), he did have another but was a 62 plate and therefore more money. Anyway after sitting in it and test driving I was very keen and ended up agreeing to purchase and put £200 down as deposit.
On returning home it started to hit me that I had not done any proper checks and I started to panic. In the office he had shown me the service book which had three vw stamps and seemingly relevant mileages. The car is on 39k and the look of the car seemed to suit this amount. He also showed me a v5 with the registered owner as having been volkswagon and he explained this as probably having been a managers car. What did seem strange to me was that the CO2 emissions were recorded on the v5 as 120 which puts it in band C of £30 but when I searched this model (blue motion, GT, 140bhp) on the government site it came back as 125, D & £110. Since getting home I have found some sites and other advertised cars of the same spec but the information is also conflicting between these sources too. I then carried out an RAC check and whilst most things seem ok there are 3 things that are worrying me but maybe unduly:
1) there are zero previous owners
2) there is only one mileage entry of 39k from September this year
3) there is finance on the car from three days ago (but this may fit with the dealer having told me this is when he bought it and it maybe this is how he finds his stock?).
As I say I love the car but really am worried I have bought unwisely. Any feedback, advice or thoughts would be hugely appreciated.
