corsa c gear problem

Hi all
I seem to be having trouble with my gears they are becoming almost impossible to get into gear to the point I can't drive my car now. I've checked the gear linkage and it's fine.
I can change gears with ease when the car isn't stared but can't when started
Any ideas??
