Hi guys,
I'm a new driver (6+ months) and made a mistake Sunday morning in Cardiff, switched lanes from a National Speed limit road into a 40 and didn't slow down fast enough (my own fault I was matching everyone else's speed and not paying proper attention. Result being, 56mph in a 40mph zone, and getting caught by a hidden camera (can't complain, I criticise others for speeding).
Anyway, I returned the NIP letter with correct details, via recorded delivery (figured I shouldn't risk it getting lost).
I have not heard back yet, but have been trying to find out what I am likely to receive as punishment...
A. Fine and Speed Awareness Course
B. Fine and 3 points
C. (Really hope not) something heavier...
As a new driver, I have only 6 points available for 2 years.
I have read various conflicting advice on Moneysaving, RAC, AA, Consumer Protection etc. groups.
Do you think I will get the course, or, because of being 16mph over the limit and a new driver, will they give me the points?
I've already learned my lesson, and am watching speed limits like a hawk, its the right thing to do. I just hope I haven't accidentally done it anywhere else...
Any advice?
Cheers!
