Sorry to say but I would not recommend The RAC on the service I have received so far. Been stuck in Italy for two days, promised a hire car that never arrived, informed my car was at a garage being looked at , when it was in fact still at the breakdown depot where it was left two days ago. Would not mind the delays so much if the information I was given was correct and services that were promised were provided. Example waited 2 hours for a taxi to take us to hire car. When I rang at the end of the two hours was told it was to late to arrange even thought I had confirmed 4 hours earlier and reconfirmed 2 hours later. P.s don't bother going to customer service as they only promise a reply in the next 5 working days does not help when you are stuck abroad.
I have now found out that I must wait 7 days for someone to look at the car, at that point they will be able to tell me what is wrong and how much and how long to fix (I already know whats wrong with the car and I have told them) it will be interesting to see what price they will pluck out of the air. SO I am stuck where I am because I cannot continue my journey as I have to stay around Rome so that I can return the car when mine is fixed. Of course I would love to have the piece of mind of continuing on my journey and collecting my car on the way back to England but as the Call centre is keen to point out if I do that then I have to pay for the hire car. Seems the only thing they are efficient at is preaching their policies at you. Ask for information and its not there problem
