Hi all,
My other half has a 2002 Ford Focus 1.6 Petrol.
Of late she has reported spluttering when driving and accelerating. I have taken the car a drive and it is possible to drive through the fault at around 50mph.
However over the past few days it appears to have gotten worse to the point where there is little power and the spluttering is becoming undriveable.
I had considered it to perhaps be bag plugs/coil pack/fuel filter (Although it is a lifetime filter), air intake valve amongst other ideas.
The car idles ok and revs without issue, it is only when under load the issue arises. The car has been loosing more oil than average but with no obvious leaks.
I am well frequented with this model of engine having rebuilt a few of the 1.6's but I'd appreciate any feedback as my above diagnosis may not ring true as it appears to be a progressively deteriorating fault.
Thanks
