Advice needed for selling a damaged car

Hi all,

I bought my first car in April 2014 - 2008 1.4l Vauxhall Corsa, 45,000 miles - cost £3,000

Garage snuck the words 'vcar catc' into the small print on the auto trader advert, did not say anything whilst I was viewing the car and then the same expression 'vcar catc' found its way onto the contract AFTER I had signed it.

Being a relative notice with cars, I was not looking out for this and got well and truly shafted.

13 months on and the car is now kaput - blown head gasket, something to do with dodgy thermostat, burnt valves and water in the pistons....?!?

Took the car to an unknown garage who told me that it was royally done for and that it would require a new engine - looking at over £1,000 for the repairs, but that they would take the car off of my hands for £150....

I've now had the car towed back to my drive whilst I work out what to do with it.

QUESTION:

Would this car sell on eBay/ Gu*****/ etc. in its current condition and how much would I expect to get for it?

How much SHOULD the repair work for this kind of damage cost and would it be worth my while to have the work done and then sell it?


I would really appreciate any advice that you could give!
