I've got a 1.9CDTI Zafira with 140,000 miles on it, and mostly I'm very happy, she does what I expect! The DPF blocked a couple of years ago and I had it removed and the ECU reprogrammed to suit, gave 10% improvement in fuel and runs smoother.
This Friday the battery light came on and the alternator was diagnosed as shot, so it was replaced. I was in a rush, so the garage turned it around asap, and I drove off as I needed to get to Salisbury - about 110 miles from home - in about 3 hrs. Car was sluggish and gutless, I reckoned it had gone into "limp home" mode when the battery light came on. Took it back to the garage when I got back from my (very steady) run to Salisbury and back, they cleared the fault and it seemed to be ok, although still somewhat light on oomph.
Tonight I thought "maybe she just needs a bit of a blast", so I booted her along a bit of dual carriageway and up the hill, and she went into "limp home" mode again. Any thoughts? I'm wondering about the EGR, or maybe something like the turbo flaps, as it seemed like the turbo kick was missing even after the faults had been cleared, and when I pressed the "sport" button on the dash there was no extra boost and the much more lively pick up was missing.
The EML light has been on since the last service - about 3500 miles ago - but it seems to be on and off so often I've given up worrying about it, I check the oil level and it disappears, or not as it seems to see fit - anybody else get this light for regular company.
