[FONT=Verdana]Witnessed a minor, thank God, collision today and am not very happy about it. It occurred on our one and only roundabout and involved a car (driven by local) and a livestock feed delivery lorry. As I approached the roundabout, I saw him coming and slowed right down indicating left (the direction from which the lorry was coming). The lorry was actually on the roundabout and I hung back from the give way line as the only way any large lorry can negotiate the roundabout is by going round or over the low central hump of the roundabout because of its design. By hanging back (and he was there first) to give him room, I didn't see the other car (line of sight issue - you can't see approaching vehicles from right from my direction of travel until you're at the give-ways) and don't know whether it was beyond the give way lines. Whatever, it was suddenly there and both vehicles did their level best to avoid hitting each other but they touched a low speed.

I suspect it'll end up with the lorry driver being shafted despite the fact that everyone local and pollis knows the roundabout design does not allow large lorries to make the turn round the roundabout in proper fashion. The driver of the car is well-known as a problem. His driving is awful but no-one's caught him in the act and ditto for drug abuse. Wealthy and influential parents are a part of the problem - too scared to report him.

Sad world!
