Hi
I am new to this site so please bear with me.
We bought a 2006 Honda CRV 2.2 Ctdi off the net 2 weeks ago from a part ex specialist. One owner, 170k, ex fleet etc. It has service history up to 100k but vague after that.
On picking it up it ran fine, bit claggy but fine. Next day it would not start so we called the RAC out. The guy who came out was brilliant and got it running by using some quick start and then he had to use cables from his battery to give it an extra bump. He ran tests as well and said that the pressure at the injector rail was low.
He said that it may be a fuel pump issue but it doesn't cut out or run lumpy, jerky etc. He said that it has a low pressure pump that may have failed and to fill the tank to max which would produce extra weight and assist the fuel flow to the engine.
At first it seemed to work and the car started after some 15 seconds of cranking you could feel the fuel supply as the engine started to come to life. It starts fine when warm too. When left overnight it was hard to start again.
This morning my Wife could not start it so I tried. Nothing! It is turning over but doesn't feel like there is any fuel.
I have just tried it again and noticed that this time the fuel gauge, it is 80% full, drops to the bottom when cranking then returning to normal when you stop turning the key.
Any body got any ideas? Could it be electrical?
Thanks
Ken
