Junction 13. Mistake :(

Hi all. First of all, I would like to kindly ask (I hope you will understand) to not start shouting from the start :(. I had to drive my family to Luton Airport today (Tuesday 3rd Feb) and unfortunately this ugly, terrible accident happened on M1 with the lorry going across. Right..I left home going down M1 and my nav was telling me 5.5 hours to dest which usually took around 1 hour 10 min. I have rerouted it and it did it on A508, A5, A421 and them M1. I am not used with that area and I made a huge huge mistake. Again, please do not shout as I am already feeling really bad about it :(. When arriving at J13, so A421 with Bedford road, I made the mistake of taking first instead of second and realised immediately. I literary went on the slip road less than 5 metres and stopped on the hard shoulder. I looked back and as there was no traffic coming over, I reversed and went back to Bedford Road and M1.

I know, it is a huge mistake but I don't know what I was thinking of. I was afraid M1 was closed northbound as this is what the traffic report was on the radio and I literary drove back 5 metres (I know it is not an excuse).

From your knowledge, is there any traffic camera installed on that roundabout and slip road? I have never had any tickets or penalty points. I live my life by the rules. I never go even 2mph above speed limit and I always respect other people in traffic. I would rather reach my destination 10 min late but safe. I don't know what I was thinking of this time :(.
