Morning all - I am hoping someone can possibly help me with 206 that doesn't like the cold!.
A few weeks ago the temperature was below freezing and although my car starts first time and ticks over fine there is no heat coming out the heaters so therefore takes an absolute age to defrost (with not much help from the heaters although these do seem to provide a bit of heat when it is running normally - not great mind!) After been able to eventually see out the windscreen I then set off and within half a mile the engine has overheated according to the temp gauge and I have had to pull over and stop.
The first time this happened I stopped for around 15 mins and set off again and although the temp gauge did rise high it eventually settled down and I was able to use the car without a problem for a few weeks until yesterday....
Again it was frozen over yesterday after not been run for a couple of days and again it started first time but with no heat coming out the heaters but eventually I cleared the windows and set off - it over heated again and I pulled over, this time I could here the water bottle bubbling when I stopped the car so I carefully opened this to let out a lot out the pressure and a lot of coolant with it!. The temp gauge then settled down again and I set off however it soon overheated and I stopped and let it cool down. This time though the car didn't restart so parked it up and got myself to work.
I returned to get it towed home about 10 hours later and before towing we checked the coolant which was empty so filled this up and tried to start the car again - fired up first time and I drove home and although at first the engine temp was high it eventually settled back to normal!
Anyone any ideas what maybe causing this? Thanks for reading!
