Last November I bought a 53 reg Ford fiesta MK6 that had done just over 8000 miles, When I got the car I checked the oil and the level was fine. 6 weeks later the oil light came on for a second, so I let the engine cool down for a few hours and checked the oil level and the dipstick was dry.
I had to put two and half litres of oil in to get the level back up to normal. Since then in the past 5 weeks I've have to put 1 and a half litres of oil in because the level keeps dropping every 2 weeks.
I took the car to a mechanic and he can find any reason for the oil lose as there's no visible oil leak and car is not smoking. He said the only thing that he could do was strip the engine but that It would be expensive.
Other then loosing oil the car seems to be fine. I was wondering if anyone could tell me roughly how long my engine is likely to last if I just keep checking my oil every week and top it up to stop level getting to low? Since I've had the car I've only done 1595 miles.
