Hi all,
I would really appreciate some advice with regard to an accident I was involved in earlier.
I was going downhill, and was approaching two cars who had stopped at traffic lights, but there was a box junction in front of the first car. It had been snowing, and my car started to skid as I applied the brakes. I knew I was not going to stop in time (I was going 10mph, not speeding), so as there was nothing coming in the other direction, I managed to swerve past the second car, and stop.
This meant however, that I was sitting to the right of both cars, in the wrong lane (oncoming traffic). So I then indicated to go left into the junction in front of the first car. I was half-way across the box junction markings when the first car started to move, and hit the side of me.
Am I liable? I know that in her position, I would not be expecting someone from behind me to enter the junction in front on me. At the same time however, I was half-way across the box junction when she started moving (from stationary).
Any advice would be appreciated.
