I've search thoroughly for an answer to this question but all of the online responses were for keyless Nissan Micras (newer models). Mine is a 1997 Nissan Micra, P reg (old car but just used as a cheap run-around, never had any mechanical problems before).
So I have been using my car all day today and done about 45 miles since this morning, stopping and starting many times with no problems. I last used the car to get home and stopped at about 5.30pm. At 9.45pm I went to use the car. I put in the key as normal, turned it and everything was normal for a two seconds - then everything cut out.
It's not turning over, there are no noises at all, the lights aren't working, there are no lights indicating anything on the dashboard - nothing. The only detectable life is that the security light thing (don't know what this is called) is flashing every 5 or so seconds as normal (hopefully this means the battery isn't flat?), and bizarrely, the radio is flashing. When I try to turn the key, the radio stops, but when I take it out, the radio screen flashes - it isn't playing anything or working, but the light on the screen just flashes on and off, which it doesn't normally do when the ignition is off.
There is definitely petrol in the car, before anyone asks. It's been dark here since about 5pm so I know that no lights were left on to drain the battery when I left the car. Just having a quick search on my phone before I came back inside, I followed someone's advice on a thread similar to this; turning the key in the ignition 10 or so times before leaving it 5 minutes. This did not work.
Any ideas? I need to get to work tomorrow so any advice would be useful! Thanks!
