Greetings
I have a 2004 (04) Vauxhall Astra Elite. which my wife now drives.
At the beginning of last week she found that the interior blower had stopped working. On Friday last week she drove it to work and the blower started working again, only to find that when she switched the ignition off and removed the key - and the blower wouldnt stop.
Of course, the battery was flat by home time so I had to go out and jump start the car. When we got it home, the blower still wouldnt stop (I'd hoped the flat battery would have the effect of resetting the electronics, but no... ) so I removed the fuse for the blower which solves the problem for now.
On doing a bit of reading around online, it appears that the problem might well be a faulty "climate control resistor" which operates the fan by means of a variable earth and always has power to it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to easily test this with a multimeter to check if it is indeed faulty, and if it needs to go to a dealer to replace it or whether I can save the exorbitant labour charges and do it myself?
