Right of way and collision causing third party personal property damage

Hi, when I started out driving, it used to be a given that those travelling in a two-way road would give way if there was an obstruction on their side of the road (like a parked vehicle for instance) and not enough space for both vehicles to pass. Last week on my street, a car was in collision with a bus, the oblique impact of which forced the car backwards into my frontage causing a great deal of damage and distress.

The bus company is insisting the driver of the car was at fault because she was travelling on the side of the road where parked cars exist and should have given way appropriately to the bus. However, the road, a B-road, has no central markings and has enough space for two buses to pass regardless of parking and as long as parking restrictions are adhered to on the other side. There were no parked cars on the restricted side when the collision occured.

I've tried looking up the Highway Code on this and can't find any suitable guidelines.

The reason for asking is that I've got to make a third party claim against certain parties' insurance companies or just take them independently as my home insurance won't cover the cost of all the damage.

Any thoughts on this would be gratefully received.
