Hi All
My 2006 Focus has an intermittent problem while accelerating. The car will be fine one minute, and then out of nowhere it will just refuse to accelerate and feel like as if the car was out of fuel (its not). The only way the car will continue accelerating is if I put my foot right to the floor which will make it go but isn't ideal in 2nd gear on a round about or in town. It will be like this for a few miles and then return to normal again. It doesn't matter if the car is hot or cold it will do this no matter what but tends to be worse after driving for a while, leaving the car for a bit and then driving again.
Occasionally the car idles badly and fluctuates right down then back up again.
The engine management light is on and has been for a while. The mechanic said it was saying the first o2 sensor had a problem but he didn't think this was right. I took it no further because he sounded like he didn't have a clue.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm looking to sell the car asap.
Phil
