astra 1.7cdti mk5 alternator charging up to 18v

Right problem is that im getting charging rate of up to 18v is this bad as thought max output is around 14.5v?

did here some fords are like this(smart charge system) but are the astra the same or is it just over charging as only had it fitted this january being a lucas make?
