I recently had the misfortune of watching an Asda delivery van reverse into the back of my car (I wasn't even in it at the time!).
I immediately phoned my insurance company to let them know, BUT rather than filing a claim on my insurance I was put in contact with the no-fault company "Albany Assistance" who dealt with everything for me. My car has been repaired and the other insurance company has admitted liability and all is well.
However, do I need to disclose this when getting insurance quotes (or when anyone who has me as a "named driver" gets insurance quotes) through sites such as Confused or GoCompare?
My wife's insurance is due and if I put the no-fault claim down against me as the "named driver", the quote comes back around £80 higher than if I don't disclose it. I also have no idea what the settlement figure was so I just put "£0".
It seems very unfair to penalise me for the accident when it didn't even go through my insurance company as a claim (I wasn't even sat in the vehicle, so why should it affect the quote by as much as £80), so I just wondered whether I do actually need to disclose this? My no claims bonus is 13 years and obviously hasn't been affected by this.
Many thanks for any replies.
