Electrical/Immobiliser Fault - Renault Clio 1.4 16v (2001)
My car was working perfectly until this morning when I went to start it, I couldn't turn the immobiliser off, hence this wouldn't let me start the engine. The red light was flashing constantly (as normal) on the dash when I initially put the key in, but when I turned the key and tried to start the engine, the immobiliser light (which normally goes off once I've turned the key once) was still flashing and as a result, locked the engine. I have tried putting a new battery in the ignition key, and have tried several times again since, but to no avail. Also, it now appears that the electrics are no longer working, as all the dials and gauges on the dash have gone off. To me, it looks as though the electrics have blown, but I have checked all the fuses and everything seems to be OK.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated?
Many thanks
Louise
