Hi all,
I'm now on the market for a new 2nd hand car after my previous job that came with a company car didn't work out.
My cars in order have been:-
Golf MK2 x 2
Peugeot 306 (T reg)
Focus Zetec 1.6 (52 plate)
Leon MK1 PD150
Leon MK1 Cupra R
Audi A3 Sport (63 plate)
Honda Civic 1.4 Diesel (14 plate company car)
So, we can safety say I like hatchbacks. I have had my fun in the Cupra R and now hitting the wrong side of my 30's I don't intend getting something which stings me on fuel/tax/insurance.
The A3 was nice, but very overpriced for what they are in NY opinion. Yes they use higher qualitiy plastics on the interior and it is German engineered but other than that......I do believe Audi stick a 5k badge on the front.
The Honda was my first Jap car and I enjoyed it! It was very well equipped with SAT-NAV, leather heated seats and rear facing camera etc. Nice to drive, engine was nice for a small 1.4.
I have between 5 and 7.5k to spend. Want something as new as possible which will be reliable. My daily commute is 6.5miles each way with a bit of motorway driving on weekends to go shopping etc.
I have drawn up a shortlist so far of these cars:-
Honda Civic 1.8 V-TEC
Mazda 3
Ford Focus Zetec 1.6
VW Golf
Can you think of anything else of similar size that I should go test drive? I want a petrol car with manual gearbox.
Boot/rear needs to be a decent size as me and partner like to upsticks and go camping. I like the idea of the Civic rear magic seats that fold up allowing for the full footwell to be utilised.
Any advice?
